Calling all hopheads and haze lovers: we’re leaping into March with a Hoppy Leap Day IPA Tasting from 7 – 8pm at our 284 Broadway taproom. Taste through some faves from the Lamplighter IPA lineup and try some newer hop-focused beers too. The best part? Since we’re focusing on your favorite ingredient, you’ll get to experience the hops in the form our brewers receive them in this interactive tasting format.
Experience all of the aromatic power of this essential brewing product and learn how hops are used in each recipe. We’ll sniff the resin-y wonder of each hop variety and try to match them up with the beers in which they’re used. Plus, we’ll talk about the factors that influence a hop’s flavor profile, including growing region, seasonal changes, harvesting + processing, and more!
This tasting will be co-led by brewer and lab manager, Grace VanValey. After we touch on the basics, she’ll take us through some of the newest research on haze formation in beer. We’ll learn about how and when hops play a role in creating that pillowy texture we love in a New England-Style IPA. She’ll clarify the cloudiest myths around our beloved hazies, while explaining how we’ve adapted some of our brewing protocols to deliver an even dreamier IPA experience.
