Our barleywine was brewed over the course of a long day at the end of September 2017. The rest is history.

The beer was fermented and conditioned in stainless for three weeks, and aged in American oak barrels for four winter months. The barrels were a combination of first and second-use bourbon and rye whiskey, contributing a delicate, rounded oak character and subtle notes of vanilla and almond. The resulting beer boasts aromas of maple and amaretto, and a body that drinks smooth with rich fruit notes of dark cherry and plum — just enough to balance a warming boozy finish. Despite its relatively young age, this beer holds a unique complexity that will continue to grow and develop over the next several years. Named after our head brewer Tyler’s great-grandfather, Kieran Fallon Kenney, who emigrated from Co. Roscommon to Charlestown in 1898.
