Our third Luminary Society release of 2024 comes from a selection of the most mature barrels in our collection. Over the years, these barrels have formerly housed an Aged Porter, a Barleywine, a Soured Dry Stout, and a Mixed Fermentation Sour. Their fifth use was this beer, which began as a Belgian Blond brewed with Pale malts and a bit of red wheat before barrel-aging for 19 months. Over this time, the project took on the years of unique complexity, tartness, and funk collected in the oak. The beer completed secondary fermentation with 60 lbs of wildflower honey from Wild Acre Farms (Chester, MA) which lent delicate floral notes and exceptional dryness. During its last weeks of conditioning, it additionally steeped with sprigs of dried lavender to further fragrant aromatics. Light and tart, this late summer release presents lovely notes of pears in syrup, unsweetened lemonade, sour grape, and fresh-picked flowers. Drink fresh or cellar.
